What’s On In Falmouth 2025
Your Holiday Cottage Stay in Cornwall 2025
2025 is upon us already?! Whilst January can feel like a slow and hibernating kind of month, we think it’s a perfect time to start planning your Cornish holiday cottage stays for the year to come.
Looking ahead to our busy local calendar, we wanted to share some key events with you in case this inspires a particular date when you’d like to visit! Once you’ve decided when you’d like to come and stay, you can filter our cottages by location, size, and dog-friendliness!
There really is something for everyone this year, whether you’re a foodie, arts lover or nautical enthusiast. Just take a look…
The Spring Flower Show at Princess Pavilion
22nd – 23rd March 2025
A floral festival in Falmouth’s gorgeous Princess Pavilion space, this is a free event suitable for the whole family and all levels of gardener or horticultural enthusiast. Events in this lovely indoor-outdoor venue are always well-done and attract crowds to create a lovely community buzz. Expect food and craft stalls, live music, and the on-site cafe and bar.
Incredibly, this historic show dates back to 1910 when it was inaugurated by Queen Victoria’s daughter, Princess Christian of Schleswig-Holstein, so this is the 115th year! Be sure to take shopping bags for any floral purchases…
Wanderfal Music Festival
11th – 12th April 2025
The fourth year of this venue-hopping contemporary music festival which “transforms the historic streets of Falmouth into the ultimate musical adventure.” With a range of free and ticketed events across the town, this has become a new staple of the Falmouth yearly calendar, attracting visitors of all ages and music tastes. Keep an eye on their website for more details to be released.
Rattler Fest at Healeys Cider Farm
25th – 26th April 2025
Two days of live music at the home of Cornish Cider! This is an adult-only event (unusual for Cornwall!) full of live music and games. Last year they welcomed The Zutons and Scouting for Girls, and this year Toploader is the first headliner to be announced. Weekend non-camping tickets are £55 and this early in the year, we know we’d rather cosy up in a holiday cottage than sleep in a tent! We can recommend local taxi firms for those wanting a drink or two.
Falmouth Food Festival at The Waterfront, Falmouth
23rd – 26th May 2025
A free-to-all foodie heaven just off Falmouth’s main high street, this three day event includes local stallholders, live music and cookery demonstrations in an outdoor space for the whole Bank Holiday weekend. Keep an eye out for their updates on Instagram where they’ll be highlighting the local makers and artisans coming along to share their wares. Expect tasters, street food and gifts and goodies to take home as souvenirs.
Falmouth Classics Regatta
13th – 15th June 2025
An iconic date in the sailing calendar, the regatta involves three days of racing and a spectacular ‘Parade of Classic Boats’ as well as the ‘Small Classic Boat Parade’. Since 1987 this event has drawn both spectators and competitors to the water in appreciation of traditional boat building and maritime history. Shoreside, we of course have the famous International Sea Shanty Festival on the same weekend…
Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival
13th – 15th June 2025
A whole-town celebration, this is the event in Falmouth’s calendar that you truly couldn’t fail to notice if you were walking through the streets of town! Pirate fancy dress and sailor’s attire aplenty, last year there were over 80 sea shanty groups performing in more than 30 venues from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. Whilst the evenings become lively, there are also many relaxed places to catch a gentle shanty or two during the daytime – at Princess Pavillions for example, or at the large daytime stage in Events Square. Whole families enjoy the weekend alongside students, locals and visiting shanty groups from as far as Canada!
Arts on the Beach Festival at Watergate Bay
5th – 6th July 2025
A free creative festival on the wide beach at Watergate Bay, over on the North Coast. Last year the two days included live theatre and music, dance, circus, silent discos, creative workshops and of course a whole host of food and drink stalls. Aimed at both children and adults, the event also includes beach cleans to underpin the whole ethos with a love for the ocean environment and education about how to protect it. More details of workshops and performance line-ups will be available nearer the time.
Falmouth Week
8th – 17th August 2025
The longest and most famous event in Falmouth’s calendar, expect 9 days of events on land, on sea and in the air! Starting with the Friday Night Pink Wig Parade on the 8th, you can expect family friendly activities throughout the town all week, including a vintage hand-turned carousel, an Army climbing wall, music from local musicians, an eclectic market, Falmouth Art Gallery workshops and many special events hosted by individual shops and cafes.
Previous years have seen the annual air display and spectacular harbourside fireworks night as well, both of which are expected to return in 2025. On the water, the sailing regatta is visible from the shore at multiple locations across Falmouth, Flushing and Mylor. We’ll be sharing a detailed blog post with you nearer the time, but until then take a look at the Falmouth Week website.
Falmouth Book Festival
October 2025 (Dates TBC)
Hosted at The Poly and venues across town, the return of Falmouth’s most bookish celebration is sure to inspire readers and writers of many different genres. Although an exact date and lineup are yet to be confirmed, last year the festival ran across a week in October and hosted writers such as David Baddiel, Rick Stein, Cathy Rentzenbrink and Daisy Goodwin. There are also normally a selection of writing workshops, both for adults and for children. We’ll update you once we know more!
Oyster Festival
9th – 12th October 2025
Returning with a promised ‘new format’ after its hiatus in 2024, we’re curious to know what the Oyster Festival will look like this year…
More information will be made available once plans are in place, but one thing that is certain is the celebration of some of Falmouth’s finest seafood! The tradition of hosting the festival in October is to mark the beginning of the oyster dredging season, a key part of Falmouth’s working maritime history. Many of the oyster boats were built at boatyards around the Fal, with some of the oldest boats dating back as far as 1860!

As crazy as it seems to be thinking about next Christmas already, plans are already in place for the annual Maker’s Fair held in the university Sports Hall in Penryn. This is a huge market showcasing local producers and a lovely start to the festive season!
