The Best Places to Catch Live Music In Falmouth This Summer

When you think of Cornwall, a buzzing live music scene may not be the first thing that comes to mind… but here in the Falmouth area we are lucky to be surrounded by creative culture. From bigger names at festivals and the Eden Sessions to local gigs in exceptional locations, we’ve put together a taster of what you could enjoy during your Cornish holiday cottage stay with us this Summer!

Sea Shanties

Of course we have to mention the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival which takes over the town from June 12–14, filling the streets with traditional age-old ditties from the high seas. Unticketed and free to attend, expect stages popping up wherever you can find a flat surface, and allow extra time to move amongst the packed programme of performances.

If you’re staying in one of our Mylor of Flushing Cottages, why not get the ferry across and avoid the traffic? Or if you fancy staying out of the hustle and bustle, on Saturday from 1pm Harbour House in Flushing is hosting its own stage of shanties to enjoy:

  • 1pm Treizhadenn
  • 2.30pm Short Drag Roger
  • 4pm Baldricks Plan
  • 5.30pm Kessenyan
  • 7pm The Chantry Buoys
  • 8.30pm The Orwellermen Shanty Crew
  • 10pm Shanty Sam Wheatley

The Eden Sessions

Each Summer, the iconic Eden Project host a range of big names here in Cornwall, and whilst it’s about an hour’s drive from our cottages, you have a day’s entry to the gardens included in your ticket so if there’s something that tickles your fancy whilst you’re staying, we can’t recommend this experience enough! So far, the line-up this year includes Wolf Alice, Snow Patrol, Becky Hill, Pixies, Ben Howard, Bowling for Soup, Bastille, Frank Turner, Mika, CMAT and The Macabees.

Festivals on Our Doorstep

At the end of July, the gates to the beautiful Trefusis Estate open for three days of music and community, right here between Flushing and Mylor. “Let loose in a field, listen to incredible music from all over the world, take part in workshops and dance amongst friends and family.”

A true family-friendly festival that is open to everyone, you can purchase a day ticket to ‘Summer Camp’ and enjoy the revelry before heading home to your comfy bed and hot shower… now that’s the kind of festival we love!

Seaside Summer Sessions

Over in Falmouth opposite Gylly Beach, the front garden of St Michael’s holds live music from Cornish artists and beyond. The garden bar is open, the deckchairs are set-up, and it often feels like an oasis of calm a step away from the beach on a hot day. Music starts at 3.30pm and the details of who’s playing each weekend can be found on their website closer to the time.

Music Amongst The Trees

Over on the banks of the Helford River, Trebah Garden hosts an amazing programme of live music across the summer season, both on their private beach and in the atmospheric amphitheatre. Just a 20 minute drive from Flushing and Mylor, this is another one not to miss, so check out what’s on during your stay:

  • The Oggymen Live – 4th June 2026
  • Will Keating & Friends – 3rd July 2026
  • Kernow Chamber Players Jazz Afternoon – 12th July 2026
  • Falmouth Community Gospel Choir – 24th July 2026
  • Beach BBQ with Live Music – 31st July 2026
  • Beach BBQ with Live Music – 21st August 2026

And for something a little bit different, why not try out their Midsummer Night’s Gong Bath in the amphitheatre on 5th June?

Overlooking the Water

At Swanpool Beach, there will be live DJ sets every Friday night through the Summer from 5-9pm which you can enjoy from the restaurant itself, or whilst taking a dip and setting up a picnic on the beach!

Head Into Town

In Falmouth town, the famous Cornish Bank is the hub of live music come rain or shine. There’s something on nearly every day of the week, from Folk Club and Electronic Open Mic NIght to the Cornish Klub Nos Lowen and touring favourites This is The Kit.

Something Classical

To indulge in a totally different genre, how about a spectacular ‘Night at the Opera by Candlelight’ on 25th June? London Concertante presents some of the finest opera arias and overtures in a sensational evening of operatic music in the iconic setting of Truro Cathedral. Also on at the cathedral in the ‘by candlelight’ series this Summer are ‘the music of’:

  • Pink Floyd
  • James Bond
  • Ed Sheeran
  • ABBA
  • The Music of Motown
  • George Michael
  • Coldplay
  • Meat Loaf
  • Celine Dion
  • Queen
  • Whitney Houston
  • Country
  • Bruce Springsteen
  • Bowie

We haven’t been to these ourselves yet but can imagine the atmosphere will be incredible!
