Local Regattas in 2025

Book Your Stay for the Local Regattas in 2025 near Our Cottages!

We know that many of our guests organise their stay at our holiday cottages in Cornwall around the dates of local sailing regattas. We’ve put together a list of what’s happening when, so whether you’re a seasoned sailor or just dipping your toes into nautical life, you can plan your holiday accordingly:

Falmouth Classics

13th – 15th June 2025

Falmouth Classics has grown to be one of the largest Classic sailing events in the UK, hosting around 200 vessels for a three-day event that runs at the same time as the famous Sea Shanty Festival! It began in 1987 and now includes three full days of racing as well as a ‘Parade of Classic Boats’ and ‘Small Classic Boat Parade.’

Through the week there is also a well-attended social programme which includes Welcome Receptions, the Classics Supper, the Classics Maritime Village, rowing and sculling races, and a public viewing of boats. Events like this keep alive old maritime heritage, celebrating traditional boatbuilding styles with vessels which range in size from 9 ft to 150 ft, including the famous Falmouth Working Boats!

St Mawes Town Regatta

26th July 2025

Another example of a coastal community coming together for a day of sailing racing and light-hearted fun, the St Mawes Regatta has been running for over 180 years!

Racing includes local and national sailing classes, as well as rowing, kayaking and swimming races which are a little more relaxed – think of it like an ‘on the water’ sports day! They also have beach games, crafts and food stalls, as well as live music, including a silver band who will finish their performance with the traditional ‘flora dance’.

You can take the ferry to St Mawes from Falmouth, or drive round via Truro or the King Harry Ferry. More details on local ferries can be found in our journal post here.

Helford Passage Regatta

2nd August 2025

Although a one-day event, there is no shortage of entertainment at the Helford Passage Regatta! Taking place on the beach in front of the famous Ferryboat Inn, the day usually starts at 12.00 and includes swimming races, kayak, rowing and paddleboard races, fancy dress, tug-of-war, beach sports day games, a tombola, fancy dress competition, sandcastle competition and a BBQ!

In the evening there is live music at the Ferryboat Inn and the atmosphere down by the water is wonderful for the whole family. Parking can be limited so you might choose to park further afield and walk to Helford Passage via the coastal path.

Falmouth Week

8th – 17th August 2025

Perhaps the most famous of our local sailing events, the Falmouth Week celebrations encapsulate the whole town with a variety of shore based activities as well as the traditional regatta-style racing.

Most years, the week commences with an initial race briefing on the first Saturday, followed by racing each day from Sunday to the following Saturday, with daily and series prizes available for a wide variety of yachts and dayboats.

After a day on the water, evening events throughout the week include a freely available air show, firework display, and town carnival, as well as ticketed live music events in marquees at Church Street. Full details can be found nearer the time on the Falmouth Week website.
