Overview
The cottage lie’s by the open meadow known as Parc Lye, where the spring show of bluebells is breath taking; the ponds, where the waterwheel can be found; the flower garden, which is gradually being restored to its former glory; a New Zealand garden, which reflects J.D. Enys’s plant hunting interests and many woodland areas, which showcase different types of planting including many remarkable trees.
The gardens at Enys are thought to be the oldest in Cornwall and are mentioned in ancient texts. The gardens began as formal and Italianate in style until the 19th century when they were made more relaxed, much like they are today.
At night, there is no sound of traffic, or light from street lamps, and the sharp-eyed can observe the wildlife in the woodlands around the cottage.
Almost equidistant between Falmouth with its sandy beaches and the Cathedral City of Truro, the cottage is ideally located for touring the county. There are numerous National Trust properties and gardens to visit close by. There is a good selection of shops and a pubs nearby, at Mylor Harbour there is an excellent wine bar, two sailing schools along with boat, bike & kayak hire
