Falmouth’s Best New Businesses in 2026!

We know that many of our holiday cottage visitors come back to Cornwall year on year, so we thought we would let you know about some new shops, restaurants and cafes which have opened since last Summer across our local area…

Food & Drink

Close by in Flushing, Tide is the restaurant which has just opened on the ferry pier – you literally can’t miss it if you’re catching the boat across to Falmouth. Open Wednesday to Saturday, they serve hand roasted coffee and indulgent pastries by day, and elegant dining by night. Seasonally changing menus include a mix of local seafood and seasonal dishes, paired with a carefully chosen wine list.

The Fish Cabin is Falmouth’s new seafood restaurant with a cosy atmosphere in a tucked-away ope on Quay Street. Offering relaxed dining they are proud to ‘support our local fishermen and provide guests with authentic seafood dishes that celebrate the rich maritime heritage of Falmouth’. They also achieved the coveted Gold Standard with the Cornwall Good Seafood Guide – congratulations, chefs!

33 Old High St is the newest place in town, scheduled to open this May… so we can’t give a personal review as they’re not open yet! Run by local couple Amy & Bunny, they say the place is ‘built on bass and bad jokes’ (we’re guessing the music, not the fish…) and they’ve reassured everyone that they will be doing a ‘good old Sunday Roast with fat Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy.’

Scarlet Wines is a newbie in Falmouth’s Arewenack Street at the Events Square (Maritime Museum) end of town. They opened in November, straight into one of Cornwall’s wettest winters, but are thriving from morning brunch to evening bar snacks and drinks. They say that wine can be stuffy and pretentious, but we aim for the opposite, a warm and friendly welcome and helpful advice if you want it.’ Their decor looks immaculate, and we’ve heard good things from the locals. They also specialise in local delivery; a permanently free service for St Ives, Carbis Bay, Hayle, Penzance, Newlyn, Falmouth and Penryn. Cheers to that!

Across the water, Milano’s is a family-run Italian restaurant tucked into Falmouth’s high street, and they opened in January 2026. From homemade pasta and a ‘flavour not fuss’ attitude we think this is going to be a popular choice this summer.

Kelp Canteen on Custom House Quay serves more than your average seafood truck! With a menu including Fal native oysters, cockles, pickled anchovies, seaweed, spider crab claws, kipper and bacon croquettes, bouillabaisse fish soup, mussels, homemade cavatelli pasta and octopus ragu, there’s plenty to try on multiple visits! The view over the harbour is perfect, and you can even take your food across to eat at drinks-only pub The Front. For alfresco summer evenings, we recommend!

New Shops in Falmouth

Hager Vor already has shops in St Ives and Padstow, and they opened their Falmouth branch in October 2025. A local clothing brand, the name means ‘Rough Sea’ in Cornish which inspires their surf-style tees, sweatshirts and hoodies. They started out in 1999 by sponsoring the Penwith lifeguards, growing since then to collaborate with local artists as well as bring to life designs scribbled on notepads at the beach. Check them out for something authentically Cornish to wear home!

A familiar high street name, White Stuff opened their Falmouth doors this March so you can pop in and browse familiar styles in their brand new space in the middle of town.

Boutique 33 on Killigrew Street is a lovely new independent shop which sells preloved branded clothing from Allsaints, GANNI, Karen Millen, COS, Mint Velvet, Zara, The White Company & more. With ever-changing one-offs, it’s a place to pop into multiple times when you’re walking past during your holiday!

Having opened in September 2025, Out West Studio is a new ceramics hub on Falmouth’s Old High Street that you might not have seen yet. Young potter Louis makes and sells his own work in the space as well as selling online (in case you want him to post something home rather than packing it in your suitcase!!) Wheel-throwing classes and other craft workshops are occasionally held in the space too, so keep an eye on their social media for updates.

Brandon Trust have opened ‘Not Your Average Charity Shop’ in Falmouth’s town centre, with high street favourites and designer pieces all offered at affordable prices, alongside beautifully handcrafted pieces from the trust’s social enterprises in Bristol and Weston-super-Mare, made by the talented artists they support. They say their ambitions for the shop “go far beyond retail. We want to build strong local connections by taking part in community events and pop-ups, while raising awareness of Brandon and creating a visible, welcoming presence in Cornwall. Inside the shop, we aim to offer an inclusive and engaging experience for every customer. Most importantly we are committed to creating paid employment opportunities for autistic people and people with learning disabilities, enabling individuals to make a real difference in the local community.” We look forward to checking it out!

Maya’s is a new creative space selling unique artwork and hosting workshops, art events, live music and exhibitions. Full of colour, you can’t miss the shop front on Killigrew Street (we think they are competing with Espressini’s bright pink!) and the inside is just as colourful. A truly independent business, it’s solely owned and operated by Maya, a 26 year old from Canada. In May 2024, Maya did her first craft market in Truro and quickly realised that there was a huge desire to learn her craft in a workshop and community setting, so she opened a permanent space! Take a look at their social media to check what’s happening during your stay.

We are proud to live in a place with so many independent businesses, so alongside the peace and tranquility of the Cornish countryside and coastal villages, why not pop into Falmouth and explore the creative and entrepreneurial spirit we have here?!
